Basic Skate

Basic Skate program is for ages 4 through adult beginning skaters.  Skaters learn how to skate and learn basic hockey skills.  Participants will learn how to glide forward, stride, stop and will progress to crossovers and backward skating.  Participants may move to Basic Hockey (same dates, times and fees) when they are skating comfortably forward with good balance and have learned to turn and stop reasonably well.  Participates who already know how to skate can go immediately into Basic Hockey.  See registration form for equipment requirements.

Basic Hockey

Basic Hockey program is for ages 5 through 12 years old (groups will be split into age groups:  5-8 and 9‑12 year olds).  Skaters will learn how to handle a stick and puck and other basic hockey skills through drills and scrimmages.  Participants must be able to skate forward comfortably with good balance and have learned to turn and stop reasonably well.  Basic Hockey will share the ice with Basic Skate.  This replaces the former County League program.  See registration form for equipment requirements.

Dates/Times for Basic Skate/Basic Hockey:
Session 3  Thursdays, 5-5:40 PM, January 7 – January 28, 2010
Session 4  Thursdays, 5-5:40 PM, February 4 – February 25, 2010

Cost for Basic Skate/Basic Hockey:  $30 for each session
                                                                                   (4 weeks in each session)

Registration dates for Session 4       January 28, 2010             5-6 PM

Hockey League

Hockey League program is for ages 5 through 19 years old.  Participants have found that their skills improve at a faster rate because of the additional skating time and kids learn sportsmanship and have fun learning the game of hockey!  Teams compete in games against surrounding city teams.  This is great family time with your kids!!

The following is the breakdown of levels for the hockey league.

Dates for WAHA Hockey:   October 19, 2009 - March 11, 2010.

Practices are on Mondays and Thursdays
*No practice:  Nov 26, 27, Dec 24, 25, 31, Jan 1

Games are usually played on a Saturday and/or Sunday from November through end of February

                 *Lower levels have limited games
                 *Games are not every weekend
                 *Playdowns and State tournament is in February and March
                 *Mite/Squirt away games are mostly played in Green Bay, Appleton   Sheboygan, and DePere.  PeeWee & Bantam teams play additional travel games in areas like West Bend, Fond du Lac, Oshkosh, and Marinette. 

Dates for WIAA High School Hockey:  November 9, 2009 - March 6, 2010

JV practices Mondays and Wednesdays
Varsity practices Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays
*No practice: Nov 26, 27, Dec 24, 25, 31 & Jan 1
Games are usually played on a Tuesday, Thursday, Friday or Saturday from November through end of February

Registration for WAHA Hockey

All registration forms are available on the website www.manitowochockey.org.
*Basic Skate/Basic Hockey will need to fill out the Basic Skate/Basic Hockey registration form.

*WAHA Hockey League will need to fill out the following registrations forms:  Registration Payment Record, Player Code of Conduct, Parent Code of Conduct, Consent to Treat, and Volunteer Form.  Additional registration for the WAHA Hockey League only:  Pre-register with USA Hockey via the internet at http://www.usahockeyregistration.com ($40 total), print confirmation of payment and hand in with other registration forms.  Please note that this fee is waived for age 6 (birth year 2003) and younger but the registration must still be completed to get the confirmation number.

**All new skaters signing up for the “WAHA Hockey League” will receive $100 off their Registration fee.  (This discount does not apply to skaters in Basic Skate/Basic Hockey program.

Registration of WIAA High School Hockey

Please note:  Player does NOT need to register with USA Hockey.
Please note: 9th graders are eligible to play either WAHA Bantam or WIAA High School hockey but not both leagues.

*WIAA High School Hockey League will need to fill out the following registrations forms:  Registration Payment Record, Parent Code of Conduct, Consent to Treat and Volunteer Form. 
**Player Code of Conduct is handled through the high school.

**Make checks payable to MCYHA
**ACH payment not available for Basic Skate/Basic Hockey programs
**Credit card option is only available through October 2009
